Allegro Energy

Allegro Energy is an Australian company revolutionising energy storage with its unique Microemulsion Flow Battery (MeFB) technology. Developed from cutting-edge research, Allegro’s batteries are water-based, not flammable, and built from abundant, low-cost materials – offering a safe, scalable, and sustainable option for long-duration energy storage (LDES).

Unlike conventional flow batteries, Allegro’s proprietary microemulsion chemistry enables high performance without compromising stability or safety. This makes the technology particularly well-suited for LDES, supporting the transition to 100% renewable energy.

During the Program, Allegro will focus on advancing the commercialisation of its Microemulsion Flow Batteries for grid, industrial, and off-grid applications.

“India, with its ambitious renewable energy targets, is not only an ideal market for Allegro’s technology, but its mature advanced manufacturing base also makes local production highly attractive. The RISE program is a natural next step for Allegro Energy and aligns perfectly with our business plan and growth strategy.”

Allegro workers Olivia Small (left), a lab scientist, and colleague Jay Tennant, a stack technician, build a battery stack cell. Made of layer of graphite plates, electrodes and a membrane. These cells will eventually go into building a large battery for Origin Energy where the company’s water-based electrolyte storage solution will replace lithium.
